Kendall Yellowhorn always takes an unconventional approach to creating his men's wear line Kendall Yellowhorn Homme. Yellowhorn draws from pop culture as well as history - resulting in an interdisciplinary collection that becomes intellectually stimulating as well as desirably wearable. For Fall 2006 the mood of the collection is loosely based on the idea of loneliness and love as relayed by author Kazuo Ishiguro in his novel The Unconsoled. For imagery Yellowhorn recalled the love affair between an Inuit and Métis in the movie Map of the Human Heart by Vincent Ward, as well as the album, How To Set Yourself on Fire, by The Stars. French sculptor Jean Antoine Houdon inspired the details and draping techniques in the shirting, creating a modern romantic look. Rounding off this collection, ethnic patterns and details were also added to brighten the dark colour palette.
